Ich bin wieder da.
Ohne bestimmten Grund habe ich diesen Blog hier in den letzten Monaten recht vernachlaessigt. Ich denke der Hauptgrund ist jedoch, dass mir kleine Unterschiede oft nicht mehr auffallen. Im Januar waren es 5 Jahre seitdem ich hier bin. Wenn man sich mal eingelebt hat, ist das Alltagsleben schlussendlich nicht allzu verschieden. Trotz Schreibpause habe ich in den letzten Monaten immer wieder von Lesern gehoert, denen der Blog gefaellt, was mich wiederum zum Weiterschreiben motiviert. Ich habe vor, mich zumindest wieder woechentlich zu melden.
Als Wiedereinstieg beginne ich mit einer Meme von Lis.

So, nun sollte ich 5 Eindruecke ueber meiner Vorgaengerin abgeben. Nachdem ich jetzt laenger nicht mal eine passive Leserin war, werde ich das mal lassen und es umaendern zu:

I am back. I really neglected this blog the last few months without any specific reasons. I guess the main reason is that I don't notice all the little differences anymore. It has been 5 years in January for me living over here. Once you get used to a new country, everyday life seems so normal and uneventful. Even with my blogging break though, I had a few people writing me how much they enjoy my blog. That should give me enough motivation to continue writing. I plan to post at least weekly again. I want to start off with a meme from Lis.

Meme

Heidelbergerin schickte mir ein Meme ueber 7 eigenartige Tatsachen ueber mich. Ich spiele gern, also hier sind meine Fakten:

1. Wir haben einen Kasten voll mit Brettspielen. Und das obwohl wir noch keine Kinder haben.
2. Logik ist fuer mich sehr wichtig. Es stoert mich sehr wenn etwas keinen Sinn macht.
3. Ich koennte jeden Tag Reis und Nudeln essen.
4. Ich sehe mir TV-Serien nur auf Video an. Ich habe dadurch pro Sendung extra 20 Minuten, die ich fuer(s) Wichtiges Bloggen verwenden kann, anstatt mich mit Werbung berieseln zu lassen.
5. Ich mag Eis in Getraenken nur im Sommer.
6. Ich hab einen zweiten Vornamen, den ich aber nie verwende. Als Kind gefiel er mir nie weil er selten und eher altmodisch ist. Heute mag ich ihn aus denselben Gruenden, trotzdem lasse ich ihn lieber "geheim". Es war eine Umstellung, hier dauernd danach gefragt zu werden wenn man ein Formular ausfuellt. Ich lasse ihn meist weg, sodass er sogar auf allen wichtigen Papieren wie Fuehrerschein, Pass, usw. nicht aufscheint.
7. Leute sehen fuer mich gleich aus. Es faellt mir schwer, verschiedene Gesichtszuege zu erkennen. Kleine Veraenderungen wie ein Bart oder andere Frisur reichen schon oft fuer mich aus, Leute nicht mehr zu erkennen – besonders in Filmen.

Heidelbergerin tagged me for the random 7 facts meme. I don’t mind doing those games, so here are my facts:

1. We have a closet full with boardgames although we don't have any kids yet.
2. Logic is very important for me. It throws me off when something doesn’t make sense.
3. I could eat rice and noodle dishes every day.
4. I am watching TV-shows only on videotapes. That gives me 20 minutes each show to do important stuff be blogging instead of watching commercials.
5. I only like ice in my drinks during summer.
6. I have a middle name which I never use. I never liked it as a kid because it's rather oldfashioned and rare. Now I like it for the same reasons, but still keep it to myself. It was strange getting used to be asked for it all the time here when filling out a form. Most times I don't list it so that it doesn't even appear on important papers like passport, driver's license, etc..
7. People look the same to me. I have a really hard time differentiating facial features. It only takes a small change like growing a beard, changing hairstyle, etc. for me not to be able to recognize a person anymore – especially in movies.

So here's more about me:

1. As a kid/teenager I was so quiet, that one of my teacher's once said: "You have learn to sell yourself!" I don't think any of my students can imagine, that I have ever been an extremely quiet person.
2. I am so atypical Austrian, that my husband used to nick-name me "my fake Austrian".
3. I don't drink. I'm probably one of few people who truly can say that I don't mind being the designated driver.
4. I don't like skiing. (Very non-Austrian.)
5. I prefer the beach / water to the mountains. I don't think I could live in an US-area with mountains.
6. I try to read a book a week. Sometimes there is a whole month where I just don't get to read anything, but then there are times again to catch up. So in the average I manage to get through 52 books in a year.
7. I can fall asleep anytime and anywhere. I'm really kranky if I don't get enough sleep. 6-8 hours are acceptable. 10 perfect!
8. I need to have chocolate.
